"Do not try to be pretty. You weren’t meant to be pretty; you were meant to burn down the earth and graffiti the sky. Don’t let anyone ever simplify you to just ‘pretty’."

still laughing about yesterday during gender/sexuality studies class when our professor had everyone chant “VAGINA! PENIS! VAGINA!” a few times to make us more comfortable with saying those terms
and this girl just stands up slowly and says “…this… this isn’t math class…”

For mysilverylining - preview of Gandalf’s appearance in the very unfinished, very untitled murder at the dog show thing :)
The dogs in the Working Group were lining up to enter the ring as Veronica came through the double doors at the rear of the hall. As she walked up to the rows of chairs arranged ringside, she quickly scanned the spectators. Amy and her cohorts were nowhere to be seen. Hopefully they were busy getting ready for the next group and wouldn’t have time to watch the working dogs… or Veronica.
She found a seat next to an athletic-looking woman in a stylish emerald green suit. A small brush and the end of a well-used rag stuck out of one pocket; she’d probably just finished showing a dog of her own. The woman glanced at Veronica and asked her, “You’re new, aren’t you?”
Veronica wasn’t sure why she’d been pegged as a newbie, but she decided to run with it anyway. People would sometimes reveal important information if they thought you wouldn’t know what to do with it. “I am! But how did you know?” chirped Veronica in her most perky, ditzy voice.
The woman motioned at Veronica’s camera. “Flash at ringside is frowned upon.”
"Oh!" Veronica pushed down the pop-up flash and fiddled with some buttons and dials. Have to remember to keep the camera out of reach when Hunter visits, she thought to herself. “Thanks, that would have been soooo embarrassing! So! Which one of these awesome dogs is yours?”
"Oh, none of them. I’m considering a breeding to him, though," said the woman, pointing at a regal-looking steel blue Great Dane. Veronica didn’t catch the extremely long nonsensical name the woman rattled off next. Show dogs’ registered names were crazy weird. "They call him Gandalf, but it’s his handler who is a wizard. I’ve never seen a natural-eared blue finish a Grand Championship so fast."
Preview and unfinished because, well, we do want to know who wins the group, right? Hint: even in fiction, it’s almost never the Rottweiler :(
OMG! You even used his name! I love you! And I really really want to read this when you’re done. My favorite fics are the ones with a mystery component to them.
I read it out loud to my dog, but he just looked sad. Then again, I could hand him an entire steak and he would look sad.
You should write more often. You’re excellent at it.
mysilverylining, I super love that you read this to the real Gandalf! Do you think he would look happy if his fictional counterpart won the Working Group? Or would I have to go as far as letting him take Best In Show to make him smile?
G only has two expressions. Sad and bouncing-off-the-walls manic (big dork). lol
Axel (or another rottweiler) should totally win Best In Show!
If Axel could write (and I’m not 100% sure he can’t) he would totally go all Mary Sue and make himself not only Best In Show, but Best In Show at Westminster, despite the fact that this is supposed to be Neptune Kennel Club :)
Now I want your version and Axel’s
Axel’s voice would be a cheap knock-off of Enzo’s in “The Art of Racing in the Rain” but with a lot of swearing. He would also overuse the word AWESOME even more than I do :)

nightlocktime said: I don't know the ways of AO3 but sure you can attach the pictures or you can re-post them and link the fic, I'm cool with it. I'm glad you like it :)
You know, there is a way to embed the pictures in the author’s notes section. I really wanted to post lilamadison11 and your work from the lvaw appreciation week but even with the coding, I couldn’t get it to work. Maybe it was a hosting issue? FAIL, just FAIL.
I just love this stuff and really want to see it alongside, you know? Waaaah.
Really? I was able to add lilamadison11's gorgeous book cover for Sometimes to Chapter 1 [x] of Sometimes a month or so ago. It wasn’t in the Author’s Note, but right in the body. I just saved it to my hard drive and then uploaded it to Rich Text box.
I wish there was a gif to properly express my level incomprehension at this. I save the pic to my hard drive and then I upload it to the rich text box. (said very slowly to myself)
Okay, I think I get it. Imma try right now.
Actually, now I’m wondering if it’ll actually work.
I can see the book cover on Ch 1 of Sometimes - whether logged in or not - but nightlocktime is only seeing a big white box with an X. Can anybody else check and see if it shows? Maybe only I can see it?
In which case, I’d have to try some other things, and get back to you with instructions.
Okay, figured it out.
Take whichever piece of fanart you’re going to use, right click and select “Save image as..” It should save to your Downloads folder (or wherever the stuff you download usually goes).
Go to Imgur (or another image hosting site) and upload. Depending on the image, you may just be able to drag it to Imgur instead of downloading/uploading. Once it’s there, copy the code for “HTML Image”.
Go back to A03, change from Rich Text Editor to HTML, and paste in the code. Once you save the chapter, the image will show.
Here’s another tutorial [x]
